Apuntes clave

every day · usually · always · never · on MondaysPresente simple
now · at the moment · right now · Look! · Listen!Presente continuo
yesterday · last week · ago · in 2019Pasado simple
already · yet · just · ever · never · since · forPresent perfect
tomorrow · next week · I think… · I hope…Futuro con will

    ✓ She doesn't go ✗ She doesn't goes

  • El continuo son DOS piezas: to be + -ing. Falta una y está mal.

    ✓ I am studying ✗ I studying / I am study

    ✓ I didn't go ✗ I didn't went

  • Después de have/has va el participio, no el pasado.

    ✓ I have gone ✗ I have went

✓ more difficult / heavier ✗ more heavier

Condicionales: mira el verbo después de if

Después de ifLa otra mitad
presente (verdad siempre cierta)presente — If you heat water, it boils
presente (posible en el futuro)will + verbo — If it rains, we will stay
pasado (imaginario)would + verbo — If I had money, I would buy it
had + participio (ya no se puede cambiar)would have + participio

Después de if NUNCA va will.

Comparativos: cuenta las sílabas

AdjetivoComparativo y superlativo
corto (1 sílaba, o 2 en -y)-er + than · the + -est
largo (3 o más)more + adj + than · the most + adj

Irregulares: good → better → the best · bad → worse → the worst

Contable o incontable: qué va con qué

PalabraVa conEjemplo
somecontable e incontablesome books · some water
a lot ofcontable e incontablea lot of books · a lot of water
manysolo contablemany books
severalsolo contableseveral books
a fewsolo contablea few books
muchsolo incontablemuch water
a littlesolo incontablea little water
How manysolo contableHow many books?
How muchsolo incontableHow much water?

Truco: si puedes decir three ___, es contable.

obligación, normamust / have to
prohibiciónmustn't
consejo («deberías»)should
permiso formalmay
habilidadcan (pasado: could)
posibilidad inciertamight / may

mustn't = prohibido · don't have to = no hace falta. NO son lo mismo.

Gerundio o infinitivo: se aprende de memoria

Piden -ing

enjoy · finish · avoid · mind · suggest · practise

Piden to

want · need · decide · promise · hope · learn · offer

    ✓ an hour · a university ✗ a hour · an university

  • its = posesivo · it's = it is.

✓ Its color is black ✗ It's color is black

✓ Laura and her husband ✗ Laura and his husband

  • there is + singular o incontable · there are + plural.

✓ There are many books ✗ There is many books

  • who para personas · which para cosas · that para ambos · where para lugares.

✓ The man who lives here ✗ The man which lives here

Estilo indirecto: todo da un paso atrás

OriginalContado
am / is / arewas / were
presente simplepasado simple
pasado simple / present perfecthad + participio
will · can · may · mustwould · could · might · had to

También cambian: here → there · now → then · tomorrow → the next day

Irregulares que más caen

Los tres distintos

go went gone · see saw seen · eat ate eaten · write wrote written · take took taken · give gave given · drink drank drunk · speak spoke spoken

Pasado = participio

buy bought · bring brought · think thought · find found · lose lost · meet met · make made · say said · sell sold · teach taught

Los tres iguales

cut · put · let · read (cambia la pronunciación)

Orden: base → pasado → participio.

Question tags: polaridad opuesta

La fraseLa coletillaEjemplo
afirmativanegativaShe is tired, isn't she?
negativaafirmativaThey didn't come, did they?
cancan't + pronombreYou can swim, can't you?
won'twill + pronombreHe won't call, will he?
havehaven't + pronombreWe've finished, haven't we?
hadn'thad + pronombreHe hadn't written it, had he?

Irregulares: I am… → aren't I? · una orden → will you? · Let's… → shall we?.

Preposiciones de tiempo y lugar

Verbos y adjetivos con su preposición

Adjetivos: dos reglas y ya

  • Nunca llevan plural. Si le has puesto -s, está mal.

✓ two old books ✗ two olds books

    ✓ a black dog ✗ a dog black

✓ a beautiful big old red Italian car

  • Detrás de be, seem, look va adjetivo, no adverbio.
