Contables e incontables (some, any, much, many)

Con contables: many, a few, How many. Con incontables: much, a little, How much. a lot of vale para ambos. Y some va en afirmativa, any en negativa y en pregunta. Ojo al artículo: a few y a little significan algunos y un poco (suficiente); sin el a, few y little significan pocos y poco y tienen matiz negativo: I have a little money (me llega) frente a I have little money (no me llega).

Truco

Prueba a ponerle un número antes. ¿three books? Suena bien → contable → many. ¿three waters? No → incontable → much.

  • «water», «sugar», «information», «advice», «money» → incontable → «much», «a little»

  • · How much apples do you need? — apples es contable: How many.
  • · There are many information — information es incontable y singular: There is a lot of information.
  • · There isn't some water — en negativa va any.
  • · Pluralizar incontables: informations, breads.
